No display after startup: Press the power button fan turn, indicator light, but the display has been black. Why do desktops have these problems?

Desktop failures seem to be varied, but the root causes are actually those types. Understand the reasons, in order to judge "value is not worth fixing, will not be pit":

Dust and Heat: This is the most underestimated killer. Dust blocking cooling fins, CPU and graphics card long-term high temperature, will trigger frequency reduction (change card), automatic shutdown, and even accelerate capacitor aging. It is recommended to dust removal once a year and change thermal paste once a year.
power supply aging: Power supply is a relatively short life component in the whole machine, a miscellaneous power supply with more than 5 years, unstable output voltage will damage the motherboard and hard drive. Repeated restart of the machine, we will give priority to the replacement method to test the power supply.
capacitor bulge: Electrolytic capacitors on the motherboard and in the power supply will age over time and bulge or even leak, showing instability and difficulty in starting up. This can be repaired by replacing capacitors without changing the whole motherboard.
Mechanical hard drive aging: Mechanical hard drive is a consumable, generally 3-5 years began to appear bad sectors. Bad sectors will lead to system jam, file cannot be opened, blue screen. Data is more valuable than hard drive, found bad sectors precursor backup first.
Static electricity and moistureThe wet season in the south and the dry static electricity in winter may breakdown the sensitive components on the motherboard.

Repeatedly restart the old computer for half a year, and revive it after changing the power supply

In March 2026, a customer of Panyu Shiqiao brought a 6-year-old PC build. The fault was automatically restarted after ten minutes of booting. The customer was told elsewhere that "the motherboard is broken, and it costs RMB 800 to replace the board". We found that the motherboard self-test code is normal after power-on testing. The fault disappeared after replacing a test power supply with a replacement method-it was caused by the aging of the original power supply (a miscellaneous brand 500W). I replaced a Hangjia rated 500W power supply (RMB 280), which was stable for two hours in burn-in test and has been used normally so far. I saved more than RMB 500 for customers.

Motherboard capacitor drum bag, change a few capacitors to save money for board replacement

In May 2026, an old ASUS B85 motherboard machine became more and more difficult to boot. It had to press the power button several times to light up. After disassembly and inspection, it was found that the top of the three electrolytic capacitors in the CPU power supply part was obviously bulging. We replaced the Japanese capacitors of the same specification (the material cost was less than RMB 20). After the soldering was firm, it was turned on once. Desktop boot does not respond, there is no movement at all how to do?

Make sure that the socket is charged, the power cord is plugged in tightly, and the power switch on the back of the chassis (if any) is dialed to "1". No response at all is mostly due to power supply or motherboard problems. It is recommended to send for repair and detection. Do not repeatedly try to boot.

The computer has been used for five or six years. Is it repaired or replaced?

Depending on the purpose. If only office Internet access, spend one or two hundred RMB to upgrade the solid state drive and memory can be used for another two or three years; if the motherboard, CPU and other core components are damaged and the machine is too old, we will tell you truthfully "not worth repairing", and give new advice.
